Rainbow Walking Tour
Welcome to Jabal Amman. A special place, steeped both in the early history of the area and the modern life of Jordan. In its early days, Jabal Amman was the center of Jordan’s political and cultural life. As you walk the streets of the Rainbow District, you will see history of the families and their homes that shaped the Kingdom.
Highlights of the walking tour include:
- Born, November 14th, 1935, the late King Hussein’s birthplace.
- The Soap House featuring handmade olive oil soaps by the village women of Ajloun, and Dead Sea products enriched with the minerals from the sea.
- The Jordan River Foundation which was first rented to the British and used as a police station and school, now a villa used for shops and a craft center.
- The Royal Film Commission bringing Hollywood to Jordan.
The walking program is self explanatory walk that takes 1 to 2 hours depending on your pace. Follow the walking trail and see the homes and buildings that shaped present Jordan. Your walk will start and end at the Wild Jordan Café and Center. At your leisure, lunch will be hosted at the Wild Jordan Café.
The newly renovated Rainbow District is a charming area featuring quaint cafés, book stores, galleries, shops, and boutiques. After your walk, linger in town, shop, explore and enjoy old Amman.
We hope that you enjoyed The Rainbow District.
